The Program of Acces to ICTS / CIEM

The ICTS-CIEM (Maritime Research and Experimentation Wave Flume) is a research infrastructure in the field of maritime engineering, managed by the Laboratori d'Enginyeria Marítima (LIM) from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC)

The term Science and Technology Facility Infrastructures (ICTS) is called a facility "unique" in his field, due to its characteristics and its investment or maintenance cost, which is a crucial tool for research and technological development, in addition to be a key strategic element.

ICTS are used to serve the Spanish and European community of scientists and technologists, constituting an important element for the progress of experimental science and technological development.

The Ministry of Education and Science coordinates the actions on the major scientific and technological infrastructure at the state, and sets priorities for action.

More information can be found at: Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación.

The program of access to ICTS - CIEM, aims to grant the conduct of research stays in a facility of excellence and reference. Their use is focused on controlled experiments in coastal, harbour and ocean engineering, as well as in other fields such as aquaculture or wave energy devices.

The stays are aimed at acquiring new knowledge in the field of maritime experimentation for researchers from outside the facility, and participation in experimental work.

The grant currently available is part of the 2009-2010 Round of the Sub-aid design, feasibility, access and improvement of scientific and technical facilities Singular, within the National Program of scientific and technological infrastructure (Annex 1 of the Order PRE / 1083/2008, dated 11 April published in the Official Gazette of 18 April) Order PRE/660/2008, 7 March (BOE of 12 March), for establishing the regulatory bases for aid
public science and technology in the instrumental line of action of scientific and technological infrastructure, the National Plan of Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation, 2008-2011.

The CIEM provides in this call, support for the implementation of research stays within the following categories:

Mode 1: Researchers who are not doctors doing his doctoral thesis.
The stay of the doctoral student must allow the acquisition of useful knowledge in the context of his thesis.

Mode 2: Researchers doctors or with a minimum of five years proven research experience. The stay will allow the user to become familiar with the technology for use in the ICTS, in a particular area or specialty.

There are 4 Mode 1 and 1 Mode 2 grants available. If interested send us your application taking into account that all accesses must end before January 2011.
