Welcome to CIEMLAB
Located in the vicinity of the Civil Engineering School Superior from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), the CIEMLAB includes the physical space where it carries out teaching, research and technology transfer based on experimentation with physical scale models in the field of Maritime and Coastal Engineering.
Inside CIEMLAB we find installations, some of them unique and singular, as the tools and the people who make possible their use and who conduct the associated tests with projects, agreements with companies and teaching practices.
At present the CIEMLAB main facilities are the large-scale wave flume CIEM (Canal d’Investigació i Experimentació Marítima) and the small-scale flume CIEMito. Also provides an important instrumental and logistic pool that contains a large number of tools and instruments of last generation.
Organizationally, the CIEMLAB, is one of two experimental laboratories recognized by the Departament of Hydraulic, Maritime and Environmental Engineering of the UPC, so its management is under the Laboratori d'Enginyeria Marítima (LIM) . In addition to the CIEMLAB, the other laboratory designate as LOM (Laboratori d'Observació Marina),is a perfect complement for conducting full-scale experimental work.
